The Ionian League

- The current government of the Ionians is a confederacy of 7 planets, the Ionian League. The ruling body is a republic, and the head of that republic is the Concilum Septemvir (Council of Seven). There is one councilmember selected for each planet in the Ionian League. The Ionian Council of Seven are equal, however there is a Head Council member who is no more important than the others, he only serves as the 21st Century American equivalent of a jury’s foreman. The Head Councilman is always the delegate of the planet Ionia (home planet and capitol planet of the Ionian League).

Diplomatic Relations
The Atara

The Carthiganians
The Ionian League has made no first contact with this race as of yet, but expects good relations. Ancient Ionian mythology mentions this race and in a positive way, and the Ionian League is excited to meet them. However, lack of a transwarp drive means that the I.L.S. Navigare (sent on a multi-generational mission to establish relations) will not arrive in Carthiganian space soon.
The Dvarian Imperium
Contact has recently been made with the Dvarian Imperium when a Dvarian Imperium exploring craft was located entering Ionian space. The Imperium has expressed sincere wishes for good relations with the Ionian League, and the Council of Seven is now deciding on the matter.
The Etheri Alliance
First contact has been made with the Etheri Alliance when an Etheri ship somehow warped into the Attica system without any warning. The ship immediately fired on a nearby Corbita class ship. The ship was had its shields down and was towing an asteroid. It’s Neutronium Multicallum plating was insufficient to protect against a full blast of a weapon of an unknown frequency, and was destroyed after three successive blasts. The flagship of the Ionian Fleet, the I.L.S. Praetoria (an Aegis class) was immediately dispatched and successfully executed the Extrudo Maneuver, pushing the unknown ship into an unexplored, and opposite side of the Aegean Galaxy. Due to the presence of a race that has expressed hostility against the Ionian League, the Council of Seven has begun debating whether or not the League should begin to develop defensive weaponry.

No first contact has been made. However, the Ionian League is aware of this faction by name alone and is wary of them as the word ‘syndicate’ is synonymous with crime and mistrust in Ionian history.
